The Secret of a Lovely Day.

The Duties of a Toastmaster

If you are looking for the secret of a lovely wedding, then it's all about mixing the right ingredients together.

The Venue, the Wedding Dress, the Dance Band or Disco, the Wedding breakfast, and the family and friends you invite.

But, who personally looks after you?

The Professional Toastmaster - Class in a Coat

By adding experience and expertise to the occasion, and leaving nothing to chance, your Toastmasters presence will do two things: Bring style and class to the event, and allow you all time to relax and wallow in the moment to enjoy the day.

A Toastmaster's 1st Class Service

The difference the class of a Toastmaster services makes to the day is immeasurable; just being there to orchestrate proceedings give you time to mix with family and friends, and enjoy the magic of the moment, especially the Mother of the Bride, who naturally, wants the best for her daughter, looking forward to this day for so long - praying for good weather.

The day will just fly by so she makes absolutely sure that her beautiful bride doesn't miss a moment of the fun, and she won't, guided by the expertise and services of the Professional Toastmaster.

The services of a Toastmaster

Since 1994, I have been lucky to officiate and provide a service at over 700 weddings, thoroughly enjoying my role of managing the day, so everyone can appreciate the occasion, without a 'what happens next' scenario.

I make a point of advising family and friends of timings, when things are going to happen, photographs, the receiving line, and the timing of the wedding breakfast; it's all part of my service and pleasant duty.

Teamwork - Behind the Scenes

Working closely with all the key personnel during the service ensures success; being able to anticipate any potential problems before they occur, and sort them out without fuss or bother to the bridal party.

There may be occasions when a Toastmasters tact & diplomacy can save a lot of embarrassment.

Let me tell you a Story.....

A few years ago, I was attending a lovely wedding reception at the Elvetham Hall in Hartley Wintney, when I was approached by the Mother of the Bride; quite concerned that a particular lady guest present had only an 'evening' wedding invitation. She asked me if I could tell the lady, in a nice way, to come back at 6.30pm ; it was now only 4pm. To protect her privacy, I will say the guests name was 'Mrs McEnroe'.

Dutifully, I casually made my way to the lady who was sipping a glass of champagne and started a conversation about the weather. It was a lovely day, so it wasn't difficult. I asked in a pleasant way, if she was a relative or a friend?

The Seating Plan

Establishing that she was a friend from Scotland, I enquired if she had looked at the table seating plan yet, to know where she was sitting. She hadn't, she said.

Together, we walked, chatting away, to the table where the plan was situated and after a few minutes of diligent search, discovered that her name was missing. She was naturally, a little confused, but on talking further, I was able to explain to her that hers was an evening invitation. I re-assured her that she was invited, but, to the evening reception, with all the other special friends - to join the party later.

Tact and Diplomacy

She realised immediately, indicating that she wanted the ground to swallow her up, but I explained that, apart from the two of us, no-one else was aware of the situation. I said that she could slip away when I was calling the guests to dinner and either come back after the speeches and wait, or pop into the local town for a visit to the shops; the latter being the chosen option.

I related the story to the Mother of the Bride, who was very relieved that the matter had been resolved without fuss. She said she would personally welcome Mrs McEnroe when she arrived later.

That is just one example why it shouldn't be your last decision to hire a Toastmaster. Toastmasters provide a 1st Class service and are the masters of tact and diplomacy & we can save the day.

Complimentary or Bona-Fide?

I like to think that all the best wedding venues have an accredited Professional Wedding Toastmaster in attendance, whether you hire personally, or if it's provided as part of their Wedding services package.

If a Toastmaster service is provided you should ask for the toastmaster's name and their credentials: they won't mind you enquiring about the organisation he or she belongs to, whether its a Guild, Association or federation etc.

It is important that you get the real thing. They should also have wedding testimonials for you to look at on their website, this will give you confidence in the service they provide and in their ability.

Does your Hotel provide Toastmaster Services?

It can be a shame however, when the hotel / venue only offer the service of a member of staff to look after your day; not providing, or even recommending, a professional toastmaster. Naturally, they will do their best, but you deserve better.

The benefits and service of a Professionally trained Toastmaster & Master of Ceremonies have to offer are immense, and we ensure that you are definitely in safe hands. It is a first class service.

Remember - You only get one chance to have the best on your wedding day. So, if your venue doesn't offer this service, organise it yourself, you will never regret it!
