Lord Mayors Show - Stoppers!!
On Saturday, 12th November 2005, Eric Gill with 30 other Members of the National Association of Toastmasters, gathered at the London Wall on a crisp but bright morning, to celebrate 'fifty years' of Professional service to the hospitality and banqueting industry, at the Lord Mayor's Show
Open Top Double Decker Bus
Eric joined his 'Red Coated' colleagues on an open top, double decker bus, in an attempt to toast all 107 Livery companies, within the city of London in an hour and create a New World Record, thus entering into the Guinness book of records. This meant that a toast had to be completed every 30 seconds - a daunting task!
Phew! - That was close...
Well, they only just made it, by delivering the last of the toasts just as they arrived at their final outward destination, which was thankfully ratified by their sponsors, Nat West, who had agreed to be the adjudicators.
Memories are Made of this...
The memories of this incredible day, will be etched in the minds of all those who took part for many years to come.
How grand they all looked and how proud they all were, to be able to represent such a prestigeous Association in something, so very, typically English.
The Prestegious National Association of Toastmasters
Long may those traditions continue, and long may the National Association of Toastmasters, continue to be at the heart of those traditions..
